de groei van Amsterdam

groei (growth) Amsterdam

In the Amsterdam Historical Museum the historical dynamic map showing 'the growth of Amsterdam' is used in a number of interactive educational programmes about the history of the city. The map shows the origins of the city, from a small settlement on the banks of the River Amstel, the construction of the seventeenth-century ring of canals, the nineteenth-century expansion, the Berlage plan and the post-war development of the city.

Animatie: Rudi Nieuwenhuis (THING.nl)

Expansion of Amsterdam in the Seventeenth Century. An Amsterdam City Archives production.

english: Nice animation to look at the growth of the city of Amsterdam from the year 1000 A.D. to present. Was (or still is) to be seen in the Amsterdam Museum (in the past: Amsterdam Historical Museum), which also have all the copyright. With the voice-over of Monique Hagen, former presenter (1988-2003) of the dutch child tvprogramme 'Het Klokhuis'.
